Poetry Is a Mirror

{November 13, 2012}   30 Poems in November: Poem #13

Writer’s Block

I hate being stuck. Ugh.

It feels like a bus trying to fit in a small space,

a car trapped in the mud,

my feet stuck in a hole,

my jacket trapped in the door.

That’s how stuck I am.

Bouquet

for Nikky Finney

Tzivia Gover (Poetry Instructor)

Pink waterfall of petal and leaf

Pussy willow softness, berry bright

A bouquet of gratitude never wilts.

This Plant

For Nikky Finney

by Joan Zayas

This plant reminds me of being in a garden

It reminds me of summer love.

This plant is Pink…

       It’s Alive in me…

       This plant is long…

       Like a Giraffe

       It just stands there, quiet…

       Just shining, looking so innocent.

       This plant smells so good….

            Like Ginger

This plant reminds me …
