Blue

Was the color of my feelings

the day I found out

my grandfather wouldn’t live to his 97th

birthday!

Was the color of my feelings

when the doctors told my Down

Syndrome uncle that he’d be blind forever!

Was the color of my feelings

when my baby daddy didn’t want

me because I was pregnant with

a girl and not a boy!

Was the color of my feelings

waking up to my dog stiff

from death!

Was the color of my feelings

when my father disowned me

because I wasn’t what he

want me to be!

Was the color of my feelings

when my best friend

got shipped away for months!

Was the color of my feelings

when my niece came out

dead, but struggled so much to

be alive!

Was the color of my feelings

when I failed math 50,000

times.

Was the color of my feelings

when I couldn’t  take pain from

my daughter.

Blue is the color of sad

times in my life, when bright

yellow couldn’t be found for

happiness.
