Poetry Is a Mirror

{November 23, 2012}   30 Poems in November:Poem #23

Escaping from the Black

Black is the emptiness I have inside.

Black is the pain I have in my broken heart.

Black is the loneliness of my life.

Black is the tears that go down my cheeks.

Black is the confusion that I have with my life.

Black is the room I sleep in at night where I let everything out.

Black is the blindfold that I have on my eyes,

That doesn’t let me escape from my suffering.

Black is what I see when I forgive over and over again

And no change.

Gray

Sometimes I feel gray

as if written with a pencil but never

permanent

To perfect casualness.

As some days seem hopeless

with purity and negativity that can sum up this

wisdom to show how far you’ve come.

But if there wasn’t any gray, how

would a bright future show up?
